Lil Oldman's Origin
Author's Note:
It was a bright sunny day in Toontown Central and many toons were running around the neighborhood, doing all sorts of different tasks. All but one toon, that is. At the gazebo in the middle of the Toontown Central playground was a slate blue rabbit who just stood there, gazing at everyone as they ran to different places. Yellow butterflies flew around the playground, and a gentle breeze blew in, ruffling the rabbit's fur.
"Gee I wish I could join them all, but I really am very hungry" he said to himself. As if on cue, his stomach growled noisily. The rabbit shook his head and started walking toward one of the tunnels in the playground, one leading to a place called Minnie's Melodyland. After arriving on Loopy Lane, he noticed that were far less Cogs than usual. The street was calm and eerily quiet, no sounds of pies hitting metal anywhere.
"Huh, that's interesting," the rabbit mumbled to himself as he walked down the street, wary of his surroundings. The only sounds he heard were the chirping of birds and the flutter of wings as he walked along. He passed the Toon HQ on the street and noticed a gray-colored telescope sticking out from the top of it, pointing towards the sky. Puzzled, the rabbit paused here and frowned at the sight. The telescope moved quickly from left to right, still keeping its gaze toward the sky. The rabbit had never seen that telescope used before and the fact that it was now gave him an uneasy feeling. He quickly moved on and managed to get the end of the street without running into a single Cog at all. Now he knew something was up; Toontown Central always had cogs being battled and now there was not a single one at all!
"Something's wrong here, where all the cogs?" he wondered. A little worried now, he walked quickly into the tunnel leading into Minnie's Melodyland. Inside it was dark and the ambient sounds of Loopy Lane slowly vanished as he walked along the tunnel. When he reached the end of it, he was in Alto Avenue in Minnie's Melodyland. The moment he stepped onto the street, a blaring alarm sounded.
"Gaahh!" the rabbit screamed as the deafening noise blared. "What is going on?!"
"Alert! Alert! THE BIG CHEESES HAVE TAKEN OVER TOONTOWN!" came a loud blaring voice from Toon HQ.
"What?!" the rabbit cried in horror, his hands flying to his face. At that same moment many Big Cheese Cogs flew down from the sky. Frozen in terror, the rabbit stared. One of Big Cheeses landed in front of the rabbit and turned to face him.
"You! Toon! I'm gouda getcha," the Cog declared in a monotonic robotic voice.
"Nooooo!" The rabbit cried and cringed. The Big Cheese started moving toward the rabbit. As the Cog got closer, a lovely aroma came to his nose. The rabbit sniffed the air.
"Oooo! Is that Ice Cream I smell?" he cried excitedly. The Big Cheese paused mid-stride.
"Yes, there was ice cream at the buffet," it said simply.
"Me likes! Gimme some!" The rabbit said. The Cog scoffed.
"Don't be ridicul--" Before the Cog could finish talking, the rabbit had thrown a birthday cake right at its face.
"Ice cream! Now!" he cried. The Cog's torso bent down and then started to spin uncontrollably, then its gears stared flying everywhere. And... so did the ice cream!
"YES! Thank you!" the rabbit cried in happiness and grabbed some from the pile of rubble. Actually, he grabbed all of them-- ten, to be exact. "Glorious heaven!" he cried as walked along the street, ignoring other Big Cheeses who tried engaging him in battle-- he was in flavor heaven, nothing could distract him. The rabbit went over to the little pond on the street and started licking away away at his cones, when a small green toad swam over to him and jumped onto his foot.
"Oh, hello, little toad," the rabbit said with a smile. "Do you want some ice cream?"
"Yes please," the toad answered with a croaky voice. The rabbit's eyes widened.
"You can speak?!" The rabbit cried in surprise.
"Of course," the toad said in a "duh" voice.
"Cool! How would you like to be my pet!"
"Will there always be ice cream?" the toad asked.
"Of course!" the rabbit said with a grin.
"I accept!" the toad cried happily and jumped onto the rabbit's shoulder. "I'm going to call you Lil Oldman," the toad said simply.
"Why, what kind of name is that?" the rabbit said, sputtering. "My name is--"
"I do not care! Your name is Lil Oldman from now on! The toad has spoken!" The rabbit's eyes went wide, but then he nodded.
"Of course, mighty toad. As you wish," the rabbit said.
And that is how Lil Oldman came to be, and why he's always so obsessed with his magical toad and ice cream cones.
