Chapter 2:The Weakness
Alarms rang. Someone on a loudspeaker said, "Do not fear! the Toon Council will find a way to fight this menace that has entered our city. Just stand tight! Find a hiding place!!"
"Resistance is futile!" The cheese headed robot yelled again. He waved his hands and the robots standing behind him started moving. Some of them went into buildings. One of them went into the Post Office. Suddenly, whistling sounds could be heard all the way up and down the street. A shadow fell over the street. Tyler looked up to the sky and gasped in shock. Big, evil looking buildings were falling from the sky!! The buildings from the sky fell on top of the buildings that the robots had taken over, including the Post Office. The cheese headed robot turned to Tyler, Gustavo and the dog Toon behind them, which seemed to be the only Toons in Loopy Lane.
"GET THEM!!!" it yelled to the other robots. Some of them were short and fat and wearing brown suits. They were also bald. There were others that were short and had bluish skin. The robots turned to Tyler and the others, and moved in. Suddenly, a big giant shadow fell over them. All the robots, including the cheese headed one looked up to the sky. Tyler, Gustavo, and the dog Toon looked up too. There was a bunch of pianos falling from the sky!! The pianos landed on the robots, including the cheese headed one. They got out from under the pianos. Some Toons appeared and started laughing at them. Tyler stared in amazement as the robots started to blow up. Pieces and robot gears flew everywhere. Tyler looked at the Toons who had dropped the pianos. A closer look showed him that they were members of the Toon Council, a group of Toons in charge of keeping Toontown a fun place to live. Flippy, the leader of the Council turned to Tyler, Gustavo and the chubby Toon.
"Are you all right?" he asked. Tyler nodded. Flippy was a light blue dog Toon who wore an orange striped shirt and purple pants. He was the friendliest of all the Toon council members-- most of the others were always serious, humorless."What were those things?" Gustavo asked.
"We're not sure, some kind of robot. The Toon Council has decided to call these robots Cogs," Flippy replied.
"Cogs?" Tyler asked, returning to his normal self.
"Yes. It sounds Toony, don't you think?" Flippy said, smiling. "Now if you'll excuse me, I gotta go report this in the Toontown Times. We have found something interesting about these Cogs," Flippy said. He took out some kind of hole. He placed it on the ground, and jumped into it. He disappeared, and the hole closed. The other Toon Council members did the same.
"What do you think they found out about them?" Gustavo asked Tyler.
"I'm not sure," Tyler replied.
"I'll bet it was some kind of weakness or something," the chubby dog Toon said. Tyler and Gustavo turned to her.
"Like what?" Tyler asked, although he had some idea of what it might be.
"Oh, i don't know, maybe how to beat them, or where they came from or something," the chubby Toon said. She told them her name was Maria Velazco. Tyler and Gustavo told her their names.
"Let's go pick up the newspaper," Maria said, pointing to the Newspaper Office a couple of buildings away. They walked passed some of the buildings the Cogs made. Fortunately, the Newspaper Office hadn't been taken over yet. Inside, they bought a newspaper and looked at the front page. Already, there was an article about the Cogs. It said that Cogs can't take a joke, and that Toons should stock up on gags right away and start training them. In the article, Flippy stated that a group called the Toon Resistance has been formed. This group is looking for members, and these members would take the fight directly to the Cogs, which already have formed HQs on the four corners of Toontown. The article ended saying that those Toons who are young should stay home.
"Wow, who knew that they can't take a joke?" Gustavo said.
"Yeah, totally," Maria said. Tyler didn't reply.
"Ty?" Gustavo said, noticing his friend's silence.
"I'm fine, it's just that I'm worried if were ever going to destroy these things," Tyler replied.
"Oh, I'm sure the Toon Council and the Toon Resistance will," Maria said. Suddenly, the door burst open. In the doorway stood a Cog, a big strong looking one, wearing a green suit with a robber's mask, complete with a mustache.
"Put your hands up! This is a robbery!" it growled in a metallic voice.
